Including Outloud St. Albert, Pride St. Albert, and PFLAG St. Albert, here in Alberta, Canada!
Outloud first opened its doors in March 2014 as a safe, inclusive space for youth who feel different to connect with each other and allies, away from the intense bullying and high suicide rates still prevalent in LGBTQ youth.
Mia Soetaert was fortunate to come out to a supportive family who then discovered there wasn’t an understanding, non-judgmental environment for other diverse youth struggling with their sexuality and gender identities, here in St. Albert.
Mia and her father Terry created Outloud Foundation for Community LGBTQ Supports and Services, an Alberta non-profit incorporation, started the twice-monthly adult-supervised Youth meetings, growing to support all ages including Juniors plus PFLAG St. Albert, connected professional resources, and expanded to speaking programs in schools and businesses.
Outloud further partnered with the City of St. Albert to host recurring Pride celebration and fund-raising events operated by Outloud and created a formal Partners program for our businesses and community groups to partner and sponsor with Outloud.
