Executive Director

Terry is a husband and father of three daughters. Terry co-founded Outloud with his daughter Mia to bring LGBTQ youth together in St. Albert and surrounding areas. He is also a member of the St. Albert Youth Working Group, St. Albert Pride Committee, and the St. Albert chapter of PFLAG. Terry is active in speaking, presenting, and advocating to schools, groups, and businesses for LGBTQ rights. He is an avid camper, loves Mixed Martial Arts, and superheroes.

Mia has been involved with Outloud since the very beginning and has helped facilitate as the group has changed from 4 kids in a church basement to over 200 youth who have attended Outloud meetings in the past 3 years. She is a public speaker to crowds of several thousand, a council president and leadership mentor in her High School, and an advocate for LGBTQ equality in her community. She has had many struggles like most LGBTQ youth, but continues to find her calling and true joy from helping others become comfortable with themselves. Mia also enjoys reading, movies, and most of all her music.

Natalie has always been the backbone of Outloud. She encouraged us when we didn't think we could start it, organized us when were flailing around, and has shown her love and acceptance to everyone. Natalie has an extensive background with youth that has always been her passion. She manages an office in Edmonton, serves on various boards and committees, then still finds the time to facilitate Outloud and St Albert Pflag. Natalie is an avid camper, lover of movies, and bubble baths. Her real weakness is chocolate.

Guy was a setup & tear-down volunteer for Pride St. Albert 2017 and formally joined Outloud in 2018 helping to evolve its administration, systems, and online properties. Guy loves spending time at home or in the mountains with his husband Erik and their furry Malamute.

Ash Halinda

Ash has been involved with Outloud since 2016. First as a participant – right after they came out – and now as a Youth Leader! Outside of Outloud, Ash helps out with their school’s QSA and plays music wherever and whenever they can. Ash takes interest in the LGBTQ community, Japanese language, music, and psychology. Their goals are to incorporate those things together in a career and to help people in anyway they can.

Max is an 18 year old non-binary trans man from St. Albert who has been attending Outloud since 2014. Ve initially came as a participant looking for support, which has helped Max to ground verself in vis identity and gain confidence to become the Youth Leader ve is today. Max enjoys volunteering both in vis local LGBTQ and art communities through groups such as Outloud, fYrefly in schools, and the St. Albert Amplify Festival. Max is currently working towards getting vis Bachelor of Social Work from Macewan, potentially going into art therapy in the future, depending on where life takes ver. One of Max’s goals for vis future is to further accessibility to the LGBTQ community, so that everyone who needs information/resources can get what they need, no matter the barriers. In Max’s spare time ve enjoys sewing, creating visual art, and long walks on the beach.
